“I like art because it inspires me to be an artist”- Inayah- Year 3
To foster a love of art in children, not only do we give the subject quality time within each year groups timetable, we have a talented artist in residence – Mr Tims – who works with us every Thursday in our bespoke, purpose built art gallery.
Every child has the opportunity to complete a block of art lessons with
Mr Tims as well as having access to an enriching art club after school. Some of our sessions have a SEMH focus which allow pupils to develop their social and emotional skills whilst learning about art.
We believe that working directly with an artist can reveal the process of creating art and help pupils to experiment with their creativity and gain confidence in expressing themselves. It also gives our young people an insight into the professional arts world and demonstrates the continuum from art made in
the classroom through to professional practice.
Here are some photos of our artwork. We would welcome you to come and see it for yourselves…
Pupils attending our after school art club made an sold a range of celebration cards to friends and family.
Money raised went towards buying this interesting art book.
