Hello and welcome to Reception!
Please visit regularly to find up-to-date information from our year group.
In Reception we have lots of fun and learn through discovery and play. The reception team is made up of Mrs Mellor (Class Teacher), Miss Allen and Miss Abdulle.
The Reception year is part of the Early Year Foundation Stage. The curriculum has a distinct identity for young children from birth to the end of the Reception year and is about developing key learning skills such as speaking, listening, concentration, persistence and co-operation. It is also about developing communication, literacy and numeracy skills. Your child will mostly be taught through games and play.
The areas of learning are:
· Communication and Language
· Physical Development
· Personal, Social and Emotional Development
· Literacy (English)
· Understanding the World
· Expressive Arts and Design
As part of our topics the children will have visitors from the fire service, police a school nurse.
During Spring, the children will be visiting a farm as part of our ‘Animals’ topic and in Summer the children will be visiting Wythall Transport Museum as part of our ‘On the Move’ topic.
PE sessions are delivered on Friday mornings and homework is sent home on a Friday and due back on a Tuesday each week.
Parents are welcome to our drop in reading session every Thursday at 3pm.
