Hello and welcome to Year 3!

Our teacher is Mr Johnson and our teaching assistant is Mrs Gosling.
In English this half term we will be learning about the following texts and genres:
- Poetry – Tradional poems
- Narrative – Wishing tale- Gorilla by Anthony Browne
- Non-fiction – Recount
- Author Focus – Ice Palace by Robert Swindells.
In Maths, this half term we will be working on:
- Multiplication and division
- Geometry: properties of shapes
- Measurement – Money
In Geography we will be learning about mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes.
In Science we will be learning about magnets and how they work.
In RE, our discussions will be around the following:
- Being modest
- Being loyal and steadfast
- Being accountable and integrity
- Being fair and just
In PSHE we will be looking at:
- Being in my world
In Computing, we will be learning about Coding.
Spanish: Musical Instruments.
So far this year, pupils in year 6 have visited Severn Valley Railway, where they encountered the opportunity to be an Evacuee.
This term pupils will experience the Science Dome and will be given the opportunity to learn about Natural Selection.
Later this year, pupils will visit the Warburtons Factory and a Buddhist Temple.
Year 3 will be going Swimming every Friday- it’s essential pupils have the correct swimming kit:
Boys – Lycra/Cotton trunks are the best to wear when learning to swim, these must be above the knee. This can be bought at a low cost from any supermarket or sports shop.
Girls – A one piece swimsuit and a swimming hat to keep your child’s hair dry in the pool. This can be bought at a low cost from any supermarket or sports shop.
All children will need a towel in a carrier bag for drying once out of the baths.
These items can be bought locally at Sports Direct at One Stop Shopping Centre.
Homework is given out on a Friday and expected back no later than the following Tuesday.
