We have high expectations of all pupils, we encourage ambition and aspirational thinking through our ‘opening doors, opening minds’ approach to the curriculum and additional enrichment opportunities.

We run a ‘raising aspirations’ programme which exposes pupils to a range of guest speakers across the academic year who share information about their career including their interests and the qualifications required to be successful in the role.

Pupils are also exposed to an extensive range of trips and visitors which aim to enhance their learning as well as help them to understand the world of work e.g. Year 4 pupils visit KidsZania in London which is a city replica of real life for children 4-14 designed to empower and inspire. Pupils learn a range of job professions through interactive role play.

Our extensive transition programme includes preparing all year 6 pupils for secondary school. We work closely with the secondary schools that our pupils move on to and we are proactive in sharing useful information to ensure that pupils can be supported well when they transition.

There are opportunities for staff to visit our pupils here at Nechells as well as pupils taking part in transition sessions at their new school. During the summer term, year 6 pupils are involved in a project to prepare them for the transition ahead.
