As we approach the glitzy Tes Schools Awards in London on Friday 23 June, we’re still overjoyed at two of our academies being shortlisted for awards!  

E-ACT Nechells Academy has been shortlisted for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Setting of the Year Award.  

As a school where 63.98% of children access Pupil Premium funding, staff at E-ACT Nechells Academy recognise how important a good early start is and invest in staff development and excellent practice.  

The academy is part of an EYFS network – a group that meets every six weeks with a range of other settings in the local area for CPD. They share challenges and work together to keep up-to-date with research, new concepts and review what has worked and why in schools across the network.   

The academy’s offer is far greater than other EYFS settings, with a focus not just on the children but the whole family. The offer is comprehensive and unrestricted. Parents and carers are placed at the heart of this. With 87% EAL pupils, the academy goes further than most in communicating with families. Every day they have the opportunity to come into the classroom and access support around reading, writing and how to support their child’s next development steps.
